The Qinghai-Tibet Railway starts from Xining in Qinghai Province in the east and reaches Lhasa in Tibet Autonomous Region in the south, with a total length of 1,956 kilometers. Known as the "Sky Road", it is a landmark project of China's Western Development Strategy and one of the four major engineering projects of China in the new century.
